Why eat fish?

Fish, as food and nutrition as well as medicine, can always be eaten by children to the elderly, including sick and pregnant women.

Reasons for eating fish

Fish can be said to be a complete food; Because fish is the only food in the world that contains most of the nutrients we need. An added advantage of this diet is that it is harmless and has no side effects.

1. Fish is a food

Food is necessary for human survival, so we can take fish as a meal or as a side dish to other types of food. The ocean surrounding the earth serves as a food treasure for mankind and we are fortunate to enjoy such food

We eat fish because it is rich in protein, fat, water, vitamins and minerals. Since the energy that we derive from carbohydrates is  coming  from the protein and fat of the fish. Hence,  we can survive on fish even if there is no alternative food than fish. So experts see fish as one of the wonder foods of the world.

3. Fish is medicine

Generally vitamins and minerals are micro-nutrients that are used in the body to prevent and heal disease. Due to the abundance of these micro-nutrients in fish, the human body gets immunity and healing power from fish. Therefore, those who eat fish daily can avoid vegetables and fruits or can consume a small amount of vegetables.

4. Fish for weight loss

If you want to lose weight, you need to eat more fish. You may not believe this, but this is the truth; Research suggests that the fish you should eat to lose weight is fatty fish. But not a big size fish.

5. Fish provides energy

Salmon:(154 g) 280 calories, 12.5 g fat, 86 mg sodium, 39.2 g protein and carbohydrates, no fiber/sugars.

Tuna: (154 grams) 109 calories, less than 1 gram of fat, 0 grams of carbohydrates, 24 grams of protein.

6. Fish is a mine of omega-3 fatty acids

Omega-3 fatty acids act as an antidote to heart disease. Even vegetarians are advised by some physicians to take fish oil tablets for omega-3 fatty acids  as medicine. Fish eaters get relief from heart related diseases as they get more of these omega-3 fatty acids. For example, here are the amounts of omega-3 fatty acids in a few fish.

Anchovies: (85 grams) 111 calories, 4 grams fat, 1.7 grams omega-3 fatty acids.

Albacore Tuna: (85 g) 109 calories, 3 g fat, 0.7 g omega-3 fatty acids

  • A food that is rich in micro-nutrients and macro-nutrients is nothing but seafood.
  • A non-carbohydrate diet is fish meal. However, the energy required by humans is sufficiently available in fish nutrients.
  • Seafood is rich in vitamins and minerals. Such nutrients are available less in dairy foods, nuts, oils, fruits and vegetables, when compared with fish.
  • A greater variety of fish is available for human consumption than vegetables and fruits. The fact that the taste of each fish differs from one another is one of the reasons why fish is an unpalatable food for humans.
